Bengal Heritage Foundation is dedicated to preserving and championing the culture, literature, sports, and architectural history of India and Bengal in the United Kingdom, building an enduring Living Bridge across continents.
Preserving legacy, kindling hope, championing athletics, empowering enterprise, and celebrating arts across the UK and India.
For over 17 years, we have organised London Sharad Utsav, Europe's largest Durga Puja celebration, bringing over 15,000 visitors together in Ealing. Beyond Sharad Utsav, our seasonal calendar includes Fagun Fest at The Bhavan London, Rabindra Jayanti at The Nehru Centre with the High Commission of India, and Voices of Rebellion & Harmony at SOAS University of London.
BHF safeguards Bengal's irreplaceable structural legacy. In London, we funded the historic restoration of the tomb of Prince Dwarkanath Tagore at Kensal Green Cemetery. In West Bengal, we spearheaded the physical restoration of an endangered 18th-century terracotta temple in Ghoshpur, Medinipur, partnered with the CSSSC Dr. George Michell digital temple archives, and supported India Post's commemorative terracotta stamps.
Sport is a powerful universal bridge uniting nations and generations. Our flagship Indo-British Heritage Cup cricket matches—played at prestigious venues including Eden Gardens and CC&FC in Kolkata, and grounds across London—foster grassroots friendship between British Deputy High Commission diplomats, veteran cricketers, and UK diaspora leaders. We also host the Diaspora Badminton League and support the Indian Superfans League UK with the High Commission of India.
BHF connects entrepreneurs, investors, civic dignitaries, and British Parliamentarians through high-level trade and networking symposiums. Our Indo-British Business Discussions with the British Deputy High Commission Kolkata, strategic partnerships with the Bengal Business Council and Bengal Chamber of Commerce, and receptions with the High Commission of India London empower cross-border enterprise and diaspora trade.
True to our civic duty, BHF leads extensive philanthropic interventions in both the UK and India. We provide continuous primary education, nutrition, and healthcare for 67 underprivileged students and 4 teachers at Vikashita in the Sundarbans. In crises, we donated to the Amphan Cyclone Relief Fund, supplied critical BiPAP machines and oxygen concentrators during Covid-19, and supported rural handloom weavers, theatre artisans, and Kolkata bookstall owners.
Cinema is Bengal's iconic global art form. BHF champions Bengali cinematic heritage in the UK through landmark retrospectives and exclusive premieres. We hosted the "Evolution of Bengali Movies" panel at the UK House of Commons, presented Satyajit Ray's 4K Restored Cannes Classic Aranyer Din Ratri at BFI Southbank, and held exclusive UK premieres of Avijatrik at The Nehru Centre, and Shotyi Bole Shotyi Kichhu Nei, KillBill Society, Puratawn, and Bela at Ealing PictureHouse.
Through our annual publication Parboni, we have created an enduring archive of diaspora literature, memoirs, poetry, historical essays, and visual art. Parboni champions bilingual expression, preserving the Bengali language and cultural consciousness for future diaspora generations while offering rich English translations for international readers.
From our origins as a small diaspora gathering to Europe's preeminent Indian heritage charity.
Bengal Heritage Foundation is a UK-registered charity governed with strict adherence to Charity Commission standards, ensuring public benefit, fiscal accountability, and community leadership.
